Günter
Rössler BALKANBILDER.
Fotografien aus Griechenland, Rumänien, Bulgarien und Albanien.
[Editor: Ralf C. Müller]
“My motivation is to take delight in the nude study, to search
for beauty.” Who doesn’t know him, the photographer
Günter Rössler? And even if one doesn’t recall his
name, but his photographies of women as life models or mannequins
are memorized by people from East-Germany, middle-aged or older.
Less known are his photo reportages, as the ones that came up on
several travels through the Balkans during the 1960’s and
70’s. About this work the artist formulated another credo:
“Reports have to be true.”
This small volume shows some of the Balkan-pictures, completed
by texts of the photographer – once written for journals or
as movie-scripts and today still conveying the original impact of
the exotic impressions. As such they are not only historical documents,
they also reveal the everlasting confession to life, the photographer
made over and over again. In this sense the book wants to pay tribute
to Günter Rössler at his 85th birthday.
